Cooking croutons with garlic and cheese:
Step 1: prepare the bread.
Of course, these croutons can be prepared from any variety or type of bread, but for some reason it is most delicious from the French loaf, which we will use. We spread the oblong, preferably slightly dry bun on a cutting board and with a sharp kitchen knife we shred across slices from 6-7 millimeters to 1 centimeter thick.
Step 2: make the garlic mixture and prepare the hard cheese.
Then we pour 3 tablespoons of olive oil and mayonnaise into a small bowl. There we squeeze through a special press the right amount of garlic cloves peeled from the skin, put a little marjoram, allspice, dried parsley, salt and mix these ingredients with a tablespoon to a homogeneous consistency.
Then, using a new knife, remove the paraffin crust from the hard cheese and chop it on a large, medium or small grater into a clean deep dish. After that we turn on the oven 180 degrees Celsius, cover the non-stick baking sheet of aluminum food foil and proceed to the next step.
Step 3: prepare croutons with garlic and cheese.
We spread the sliced bread on the prepared baking sheet, pour each slice with a thin layer of the remaining pure vegetable oil and put in a preheated oven on 4-5 minutes. After this time, with the help of a kitchen spatula, turn over the slices of the loaf on the other side and bake them the same amount or to a very delicate beige-golden color.
Then we treat one side of the crouton with a garlic-spicy-oil mixture, sprinkle each portion with hard cheese and again send it to the preheated oven, but already on 5-7 minutes or until the surface of the tidbits is covered with a beautiful molten golden crust.
As soon as this happens, we again pull the kitchen gloves in our hands, put the baking sheet on the cutting board, previously laid on the countertop, and allow the croutons to cool slightly.
Then we carefully move them to a large flat dish or distribute them in portions on plates and go to taste.
Step 4: Serve the croutons with garlic and cheese.
Croutons with garlic and cheese are served warm as an appetizer for a casual or festive table. They can be served on a large flat dish or in portions on plates, if desired, previously garnished with fresh herbs dill, parsley, cilantro, basil or green onions. Also, such mini-sandwiches can be a very rich breakfast or dinner, especially if you complement them with an unobtrusive side dish, for example, french fries, vegetable salad, marinades, pickles or whatever you like.
